Root canal therapy is followed by a crown placement to help in the strength of the tooth. A root canal treatment is an endodontic procedure that removes decay and infection from the inner portion of the tooth. When your tooth starts to decay and the decay reaches the dental pulp and nerves of your tooth, an infection will happen and you will feel severe tooth sensitivity and pain. If left untreated, not only will you experience constant aching, swelling, and darkening of the tooth, the infection will also eventually kill the tooth and even damage the surrounding gums.

Root Canal Treatment Procedure:
- The nerves of the pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. If not treated at the earliest can lead to more infection and formation of an abscess (pus formation).

Roots are not removed during root canal. Root canal involves cleaning and removing the infected pulp present in the canals which are the reason you experience tooth pain.
Teeth can shift only if there is space adjacent to it or due to the presence of a deletorius habit in the form of tongue thrusting or thumb sucking.
Root canal is usually done under local anesthesia, general anesthesia is only given in cases where the patient is un-cooperative.
Root canals are usually done in a single visit if there is no severe infection, in case the infection is severe two sittings are required to completely remove the infection
Crowns are necessary after root canal as the tooth requires additional strength in order to prevent any case of fracture and also helps to prevent the chances of re infection.
Root canal in a single sitting will take around 30-40 minutes.
Symptoms of a failed root canal will be pain and secondary infection, mainly due to poor maintenance of the crowns after rct. In most cases re infection happens due to not placing the crown.
Neither hurts as both will be done under anesthesia. The procedure is to make you pain free, so the only time you might feel a prick is when the injection is given.
Patients are advised not to have anything hard until the crowns are placed so as to prevent the tooth from fracture due to lack strength.
Failure to get a RCT will eventually lead to more destruction of the tooth, meaning the chances of saving the tooth will become lesser over time and last option to get rid of the pain would be to extract the tooth.
